Supporting Teacher Training ongoing

Withington is a long-standing member of Independent School’s Teacher Induction Panel (ISTIP), and hosts a regional meeting each term for NQTs. The School also supports the programme for PGCE students in conjunction with the University of Manchester. Withington is a member of the local Geographical Association, through which the school provides twilight Geography Skills sessions for PGCE students at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Impact

Approximately 30 newly qualified teachers attend the ISTIP workshops.

The School has a PGCE student on placement in the English Department every Autumn and Summer term. 

The twilight Geography sessions for the PGCE students consist of workshops on delivering Sixth Form classes.  The majority of the PCGE students go on to teach at maintained schools.
