Annual Christmas party for senior citizens
It was pleasure to welcome 140 senior citizens from our local community into school for the annual ‘Christmas Concert and Tea Party’ on Thursday 5th December. This event has been run by Withington since 2000. A highlight of the festive season at Withington, staff and students put on a spectacular show. The dining room was filled with festive cheer and joyful music, jubilation was in abundance throughout the evening and guests were able to sing-a-long thanks to lyric sheets on every table. There was amusement and confusion in almost equal measure as the entire room performed and participated in the Twelve Days of Christmas.
Guests also enjoyed a delicious party tea, with sandwiches and cakes that had been made by WGS staff. Student volunteers greatly enjoyed the night and shone in their roles in the choir and orchestra. It was also busy behind the scenes with volunteers helping to greet guests, serve food and make sure our visitors were comfortable. Every guest left with a Christmas gift and a smile on their face. The event was a wonderful celebration thanks to the generosity of the Withington community. We were happy to receive feedback from our guests from Mitchell House that ‘The music was wonderful as always!’
A Christmas raffle also brought much joy, with winners being the recipients of Christmas hampers. £290 was raised by the raffle which was donated to The Booth Centre.
