Science Communicators 2025
The long-established Science Communicators Programme ran again at Withington Girls' School (WGS) this year. Year 12 students from WGS are invited to apply to be part of the programme and are asked to create a science show for young people aged 7-12. By delivering a captivating, interactive and accessible science show, the project seeks to spark curiosity and encourage creativity in the young audience that attend.
The ‘Flash Bang Show’ was delivered to an audience of around 200 pupils. 15 pupils from St Kentigern’s Primary School, 25 Year 7 students from Manchester Academy as well as 100 students from WGS Primary School attended the show. In putting the show together pupils from Withington were able to develop their key skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, public speaking, organisation and the ability to meet deadlines. Pupils in the audience were able to take part in an enriching STEM experience, igniting their curiosity and hopefully a lasting interest in science.
