Year 6 Options Programme
This partnership between The Manchester Grammar Junior School and St James' CofE Primary School, Birch-in-Rusholme, allows Year 6 pupils greater access to educational opportunities across a range of subjects - academic, sporting and co-curricular.
Aims
This partnership between The Manchester Grammar Junior School and St James' CofE Primary School, Birch-in-Rusholme, exists to give Year 6 children a broader educational experience through MGS's Options programme.
Children are invited to particular events and lessons, for example the Bexwyke Lecture, Science Day, Sports Festivals, Maths Day, Language Day and Music Day.
The aim is to share facilities wherever possible - for example, the MGS sports' field was used for St James' Sports Day.
Background
The partnership arose from a discussion between the Head of the MGS Junior School and the Head of St James' concerning the need to provide experiences to pupils.
Resources
Children use the resources within the MGS Options programme and some of the facilities of The Manchester Grammar School.

Four children from St James' take part each week in MGS's Options programme.
Three boys from Year 5/6 each week visit the Early Years section of St James' to help with reading etc.
Groups of up to 10 are involved in other activities.
Frequency
Weekly, with additional events as they occur.
