Children of Success Schools Trust

This partnership between The Manchester Grammar School, Haveley Hey Community School and The Willows Primary School exists to provide educational expertise within the governing body, provide opportunities to pupils and give guidance to teachers and teaching assistants on good practice.

Aims

Background

The partnership was set up by a former High Master at The Manchester Grammar School. The Deputy High Master and the Head of The Manchester Grammar Junior School then became board members.

Children visit MGS to attend particular lessons and events, for example the Bexwyke Lecture, Science Day, Sports Festivals, Maths Day, Language Day and Music Day.

Teachers are invited to sit in on these lessons and events, giving opportunities to share ideas and resources with MGS staff. For example, teachers took part in a twilight session to demonstrate advanced practical science methods within the primary school.

Members of the MGS Junior School have taught lessons within the Academy, followed by discussions with staff. Meetings have taken place with our JS coordinators and they have also been invited to observe lessons and feedback to staff.

Resources

This takes place within The Manchester Grammar School and The Academy Schools. The Head of MGS Junior School has a meeting at the beginning of the year with the two Academy School heads to discuss their particular needs for the year. An action plan is then drawn up and reviewed at the end of the year.

A number of Junior School staff are keen to be involved with outreach and have given up their time willingly.

Resources are shared between the schools.

Pupil Involvement

Children from Key Stage Two would visit in groups, with a maximum number of eight.
