The Manchester Grammar School Primary History Conference
This partnership provides an opportunity for primary school teachers who are mostly 'generalists' to develop both their subject knowledge in History, and awareness of the most effective and interesting ways to deliver this to pupils.
Background
The partnership was initiated by our Head of History, who through his work as a school governor in the primary sector, had become aware that relatively few professional development opportunities were provided in History for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 teachers.
Each conference features two keynote lectures provided by specialists in primary History. Delegates attend two workshops, delivered by a mixture of university lecturers, MGS staff, education officers from museums and galleries in the city, and other primary History teachers from the local area.
Resources
The conference takes place at MGS, organised and hosted by our Academic Deputy Head. History teachers run the workshops.
Frequency
This is an annual event, which takes place over a whole day.
