'Let's Sing' Music Outreach

RGS Worcester hosted a Music Outreach event, bringing together 135 enthusiastic pupils from Years Four and Five from six local Primary Schools including Honeywell Primary School, Northwick Manor Primary School, St George’s Catholic Primary School, Cutnall Green Church of England Primary School, Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Primary School and Hollymount School.

The ‘Let’s Sing’ event took place in Perrins Hall, led by Teacher of Music and professional singer, Ms Claire Spencer, accompanied by Director of Music, Mr Jonathan Soman.

The Primary School children enjoyed fun vocal warm up exercises to start the session and then learnt two songs – ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars and ‘When I Grow Up’ from ‘Matilda the Musical’, with the pupils learning the tunes as well as the harmony parts. The Outreach event culminated in a video recording of ‘Count on Me’, with all 135 pupils taking part the final performance which proved to be a rousing rendition of the popular song. The final film will be shared with the Primary Schools as a memento of the day.

The children also enjoyed a performance from Lower Sixth Music student Anna Jobes, who sang ‘Jar of Hearts’ superbly whilst accompanying herself on the piano.

Teacher of Year Five at Northwick Manor, Mrs Hoare, said, “I would like to say a massive ‘thank you’ for inviting Northwick Manor Primary to the ‘Let’s Sing’ morning. The children had a lovely time singing their hearts out. It was such a fun event”.
