Harvest Festival Produce Supports Purley Food Hub
Donations of food were collected at our Harvest Festival and were then given to the Purley Food Hub which is an independent food bank, set up in January 2013 by the 12 churches of Purley & Kenley Churches Together. They became a registered charity with elected Trustees in 2014. They are a member of the Croydon Food Network.
To make a difference to people in need.
This opportunity was identified by our Chaplain, Father Gerry Devlin.
538 girls and 218 teaching and non-teaching staff from Woldingham School were involved in this event.
Additionally girls from year 9 volunteered at the Purley Food Hub, assisting them with sorting out the food supplies.
Volunteers from Purley Food Hub thanked students and staff for their very kind donations which will make a real difference to people in need at this time. In seven years, the Hub has provided more than 156,000 meals.
The partner also thanked the group of Year 9 students who visited the Hub last week – she and the other volunteers were delighted with all their hard work in sorting out the food supplies.
