Primary school Classics Project

An initiative led by Sixth Form students to devise and deliver a Classics course suitable for Year 5 and 6 pupils

Aims

This project offers the opportunity for primary school pupils to experience some of the stimulation and academic challenge provided by studying the Classics.

Background

John Lyon Sixth form students proposed and undertook the development of this course having considered an aspect of their experience at John Lyon that they wished to share.

The course started in October 2017.

Resources

The Sixth Formers themselves are critical to the success of this project as they have taken ownership of it. They visit Norbury School weekly to work with the pupils there.

Impact

It is hope that the course will stimulate an interest in pursuing further study in this area.

Pupil Involvement

The primary school pupils enjoy working with Senior students from John Lyon.

Frequency

The course runs every Wednesday afternoon for an hour.
