History Symposium

The event was organised to enhance students' super-curricular engagment with history.

Aims

To enhance students' super-curricular engagement with history and to enable them to pursue and present academic papers on various topics outside of the curriculum.

Background

A member of Forest School staff was Head of History at LAE prior to joining Forest and have worked closely with their current Head of History. The idea for the Symposium came out of the Forest/LAE Middle Leaders conference.

Resources

The resources used were: Upper Library, screens, catering.

Impact

Seven students presented high-quality independent research which was appraised by a panel. Students will be able to reflect on this process and invoke the experience in upcoming interviews (the majority are applicants to Oxford and Cambridge). We received a number of testimonials following the event which were extremely positive.
