Impact Statement
We have supported 4 local state schools with preparation for Oxbridge Interviews, many students supported achieved conditional offers.
Our Head of E-learning and a year 10 student, ran a Coding Club for children in years 3-6 after school for a term. We are also providing ongoing support for the school e-learning co-ordinator.
Our Head of Physics has been supporting WSFG science department, to ensure good quality physics is taught. This has involved demonstrating lessons, hosting colleagues at Forest for observations and supporting schemes of work.
Students from WSFG come to Forest once a week to be taught Additional Maths. The students will take the Additional Maths Paper at the end of the year. Last year's results were an improvement on previous attainment.
Students from our school and from LAE come together fortnightly to take part in the TWINKLE space mission run through University of London. PHD students come and facilitate physics students taking part in real life space research using the best telescopes in the world.
State school pupils attended the careers talk about Ultra Electronics Precision Control Systems, Cambridge and their work with control systems for aircraft, including work done in the past for Concorde. He hopes to bring with him examples of some of the electronic devices.
We have always run a MOP lecture but through our ongoing partnership work we now invite local sixth former to attend from our partnership schools. This supports the application process to university to do maths as it is indication of additional/wider mathematical interest. Over 200 external students came.
The Heads of Geography at ours and another local state school met to review Geography A Level NEA. It gave them an opportunity to discuss strategies for the A level geography course.
