Come and Sing - Faure's Requiem

Pupils were invited to take part in Come and Sing - Faure's Requiem. The performance involved a choir containing 80 pupils from five local primary schools, and a local adults chorus, performing one of the most beautiful choral works in the repertoire, accompanied by a professional orchestra.

The concert represented the herculean efforts of a group of young singers from Davis Lane, Selwyn and Woodford Green Primary Schools, as well as Chingford CofE Primary School, led by the choirs from Forest Prep School.

The event takes place every year and has always been successful.

Staff time, school facilities and £3000 cost input.

Impact

The value and importance in exposing young people in our charge to such a cultural experience is paramount in fostering a lifelong love and passion for music.

Pupil Involvement

The year groups involved are Yr R-2; Yr 3-6; Yr 7-9; Yr 10-11; Yr 12-13.

Frequency

As a result of the sucess of the event, we have also established some excellent new partnerships, as well as instituting a new annual tradition of a Prep School music outreach event which we hope will grow year after year.
