Science Teaching

Prep Science Lead visits the school once a week to teach a Science topic to a class. They used the school's initial planning as a guide & then planned, delivered & resourced the lessons.

 

 

 

Aims

To enhance the children's learning through resources not usually available to them.

To offer the expertise of a Science Lead

To develop a curiosity in Science and an appreciation for its contribution in everyday life.

To increase confidence and science subject knowledge for class teacher

 

Background

On discussing the school's Development Plan for the year at a catch-up meeting with the head, it was agreed that the Science Leads would be introduced. Through emails & visits, it was agreed that the Science Lead would visit the school for a term to teach the YR5/6 class their next Science topic. 

At the end of the term, the same was done with the YR3/4 class on another topic.

Impact

Feedback from teachers has been excellent

Children are enthused & excited to see the Science Lead each week

Some of the children now attend the STEM Club at College

Further feedback for Impact still being sought.
