Make a Noise music day

Students from Harlands Educational Trust, Blackthorns Primary Academy and a host of prep schools come together to rehearse and perfrom a concert of concert band material from film scores and musicals.

Aims

To widen appreciation of and participation in music making and encourage greater collaboration in music between local schools.

Background

We wanted to develop greater musical collaboration with students from local schools. Our Head of Music developed the concept of 'make a noise' day.

Resources

Our Music teachers and some instrumental teachers are involved with the day and its preperation alos involes some administrative support. We buy sweatshirts for the pupils so that they all feel like part of a single orchestra. We use school facilities and provide lunch.

Impact

Very positive feedback from teachers and students.

Pupil Involvement

A range of ages, mostly secondary school level. Boys and girls take part.
