Geography Field Trip
Year 6 children from both Ardingly Prep School and Blackthorns Community Primary Academy took part in a range of Geography activities together.
The day was planned and delivered by teachers from both schools and children worked in mixed school groups. The children enjoyed a picnic together at lunchtime & at playtime.
The day concluded with the partner school visiting the Solar Car to learn a little about this project.
Aims
To build on links made with Blackthorns Primary School.
To share the College facilities to inspire & engage the children.
To establish good working relationships based on trust and mutual enrichment.
To learn from each other.
To enable Blackthorns to complete some Geography outcomes they struggle to meet on their site.
Background
The Partnership Co-ordinator connected subject leads from both schools. This particular partnership was thought of and developed over a coffee between both subject leads.
Resources
Four members of staff across both schools.
Two minibuses and drivers to transport partner school.
Roughly 10 hours planning and preparation time.
Clipboards/compasses/photocopying.
Impact
Children all made new friends and socialised with new people.
A positive link was built with Blackthorns.
Frequency
It is hoped that this particular event will be repeated again next year.
