Impact

Feedback from St Augustine's school:

What have been the benefits of this partnership to you as a school?

Being able to offer experiences for the children that they don't normally get to access. Workshops have helped us to promote a 'fun environment' which 'promotes life in all its fullness' as in our school vision statement. Teachers have gained ideas for their own teaching and, like the children, have more positivity/excitement for Music.

What have been the benefits of this partnership for the class teacher?

It was great CPD for teachers to learn new musical songs, games, skills and knowledge from being in these sessions and experiencing them with their class.

What have been the benefits of this partnership for the children?

All the children across the school have enjoyed the opportunity to take part in dedicated Music workshops and be exposed to/learn to play instruments which they don't normally get to work with. These workshops have given them high-quality, memorable learning experiences which the children can speak about with enthusiasm and a good recollection of their learning.

What has worked particularly well?

Each workshop was inclusive, accessible and well-aimed for the group of children participating in it.

What impact has this partnership had on the children?

More excitement about Music. Exposure to new instruments/songs/chants etc.

Staff voice:

"The children thoroughly enjoyed the session of bucket drumming. Hannah had a great rapport with the children and ensured the lesson was accessible for all. I also enjoyed the session and found it great CPD for myself. I would love to purchase some buckets so we can continue on it."

(Year 5/6 teacher)

"The children were all so engaged in the session and loved learning all the songs, chants and rhythm games. Several of these have become regular attention grabbers, transition games and movement breaks with the class. It has helped with promoting fun through music in everyday activities."

(Year 1/2 teacher)

Pupil voice:

"We can remember the song we learned. We also learned how to make different sounds on the drums, like on the sides, the rim and the centre of the drums. We got to learn different patterns too. It was also very inclusive. You could listen to everyone and it was nice to hear each other playing. We had a base sound we could use if we couldn’t think of one of our own which meant we didn’t get stuck and just do nothing." (Year 5/6)

"She made actions for us to remember it. She sung with us and made the beat." (Year 1/2)
