Swimming Tuition with West Wimbledon Primary School

Five Wimbledon High staff secondees aim to help raise student attainment, inspire and give confidence to the children from West Wimbledon primary school via weekly swimming lessons. Free of charge to our partner school, the Year 4 students come to the WHS swimming pool and receive hour of expert tuition per week for the entire year.

“The children are all really enjoying their swimming sessions. Care has been taken to find about our SEND children and they are provided with targeted support. The children are so happy, including the new swimmers who are all showing confidence to take part. Aims

1. To provide support via the use of Wimbledon High facilities.

2. To inspire the students coming onto site.

3. To raise attainment.

Background

The opportunity was identified by the Director of Partnerships via being a member of the school governing board and so identifying the need for support.

This project commenced in 2018 and is now in it's second year.

Resources

Wimbledon High Swimming pool.

Five staff secondees - two PE teachers and three externally hired coaches.

One hour per week, across the academic year.

Frequency

This is an ongoing event and takes place on a weekly basis.

This will continue for the foreseeable future.
