Ibrick Club with St Joseph’s Primary School
Years 3 and 4 pupils from St Joseph’s Primary School join Channing Junior School pupils for an Ibrick session, organised by Active Day Camps.
Aims
To create a pathway for students from St Joseph’s to be creative beyond the curriculum, alongside Channing pupils. We also support those students to build their confidence.
Background
This initiative started in September 2022. Through Channing’s partnership with St Joseph’s School, Year 3 & 4 pupils from St Joseph’s and Channing take part in a session run by Active Day Camps and Ibrick. The students are provided with a unique lego kit designed to encourage concentration and creativity outside of the curriculum, and with a focus on engineering.
Resources
The students use the Channing Junior School facilities and are provided with equipment from Ibrick through an external organisation.
Impact
The club is very popular with both partnership school pupils and Channing pupils. Every week, the pupils work together collaboratively on building specific ibrick kits and have found the experience enjoyable as well as positive regarding building relationships and skills.
Pupil Involvement
Year 3 & 4 pupils from St Joseph’s and Channing are offered the chance to take part.
Frequency
This is an after school weekly activity which is 1 hour in length.
