D/T Club at St. Aloysius' College Year 8, 9 and 10 students
Year 8, 9 and 10 Channing Senior School students alongside Year 8, 9 and 10 St. Aloysius’ College students engage in a D/T Club run by St Aloysius’s D/T teaching staff, at St Aloysius College in their specialist D/T room.
Aims
To create a skillset for Year 8, 9 and 10 Channing students, working alongside Year 8, 9 and 10 St Aloysius’ College students, to learn how to make items such as clocks, chess boards and jewellery boxes, and engage with each other in a more informal and collaborative environment.
Background
This is a new initiative which started in Autumn 2022. We have established partnerships with St Aloysius’ College. We wanted to develop more opportunities that could give students new skills, in a social environment that encourages collaboration and enjoyment.
Resources
St Aloysius’s College are sharing their resources and D/T facilities with us to enable this club, including utility costs. St Aloysius provides the staff and premises, and Channing School provides the D/T materials for their creations, so it is a mutually beneficial partnership.
Impact
Provides opportunities for students from different schools/backgrounds to engage with each other and learn new skills as well as utilise D/T equipment.
Pupil Involvement
The D/T Club is run by St Aloysius staff for Years 8, 9 and 10 in St Aloysius and Channing, in a half termly rota of age groups.
Frequency
Runs weekly after school for 60 minutes.
