Computer Science Club at Acland Burghley
A Channing Computing Science teacher works with Year 10 students from Acland Burghley School at Channing Senior School to help them learn coding and more sophisticated programming.
Aims
To create a pathway for St Aloysius pupils to help them learn about coding beyond what they can do at Acland Burghley where GCSE Computer Science is not offered. We also support those students to build their confidence and teamwork as well as engagement with the subject.
Background
After discussing with Acland Burghley potential areas of interest, Computer Science was seen as a way of engaging students beyond the curriculum and utilising Channing's expertise in the area.
Resources
The club is taught by a Channing Computer Science teacher with resources at Channing Senior School.
Impact
Students have grown more confident when programming and coding as well as showing a growing independence by attending the club after school at Channing without a teacher.
Pupil Involvement
5 x Year 10 students from Acland Burghley attend independently after school
Frequency
This is a weekly activity which takes place from 4.05-4.45 on Wednesdays.
