Cookery Club at St. Aloysius' College Year 9 and 10 students
Year 9 and 10 Channing Senior School students alongside Year 8, 9 and 10 St. Aloysius’ College students engage in a Cookery Club run by Channing Senior School’s Deputy Catering Manager and a catering assistant, at St Aloysius College.
Aims
To create a skillset for Year 8, 9 and 10 St Aloysius’ College students as well as Year 9 and 10 Channing students, to learn how to cook specific dishes and engage with each other in a more informal and collaborative environment.
Background
This is a new initiative which started in Spring 2023. We have established partnerships with St Aloysius’ College. We wanted to develop more opportunities that could give students new skills, in a social environment that encourages collaboration and enjoyment.
Resources
St Aloysius College are sharing their resources and kitchen facilities with us to facilitate this club, including utility costs. Channing School provides the staff, the catering equipment and the ingredients for their dishes, so it is a mutually beneficial partnership.
Impact
Provides opportunities for students from different schools/backgrounds to engage with each other and learn new skills.
Pupil Involvement
The Cookery Club is run by Channing staff for Years 8, 9 and 10 in St Aloysius and Year 9 and 10 from Channing, in a half termly rota of age groups.
Frequency
Runs weekly after school for 90 minutes.
