Coaching Training for Palladian Academy Trust

This partnership is about equipping teachers with leadership and coaching skills to use with pupils and staff.

Aims

We are working with the Palladian Trust to begin to embed coaching in the schools within the trust.

They are wanting to embed coaching both as a skill and an approach to leadership and teaching within the partnership of schools.

It is a big task, as there are approx 10 schools within the trust, so the potential numbers of courses needed to truly embed the ethos could be very large. We are still developing what the model would be for them.

The immediate beneficiaries are the school leaders, being better equipped to lead their teams. Our hope is that over time we could train many of their staff in coaching, to develop their pastoral and classroom skills

Background

The Head of Combe Down Primary School, attended one of our coaching courses and then discussed with the leadership of the trust about bringing that to the trust. They were keen. I then had a meeting with the head of the trust. Starting was delayed because of Covid but we ran the first course in November 2022 for 15 of their Heads and Deputies as part of their leadership development.

Resources

A Monkton teacher ran the courses, and a further trainer was employed by Monkton to co-run the courses.

We ran the course at their site and they provided food.

Each course is run over 2 days.

The Trust was charged £450 for 15 delegates. This covered the cost of paying the external trainer.

Impact

The external coaching company collected impact data which was not shared with Monkton, but 15 delegates attended and completed the training.

Pupil Involvement

No pupils involved, but pupils with benefit.

Frequency

This was a one off course, but we hope to run further events leading on from this.
