Swimming - Hertford St Andrews CEVA Primary School
We offered Hertford St Andrews CEVA Primary School the use of our school swimming pool and provided transportation to the children in Years 5 and 6, which enabled them to come and learn to swim.
Aims
By allowing HSA to use our pool and provide transport they are able to offer a complete PE curriculum to their pupil who would otherwise miss out on learning to swim before they left primary school.
Critical factors include the maintenance and upkeep of our school pool, the ability to off transport and changing facilities.
The 24 Year 5 and 6 children children who undertook the 6 week swimming programme were the main beneficiaries.
Background
The offer of using our swimming pool and transport facilities has been available to HSA for the last nine years.
Resources
2 x minibuses and qualified drivers. The school swimming pool and changing facilities.
teaching and non teaching staff were used to drive the minibuses.
The children attended for 6 weeks including 1 week after SJITP and finished for the summer holidays.
No financial contribution was sought.
Impact
The 25 children were all the swim at least 15 meters unaided by the end of the six-week programme.
