Hertfordshire Young Leaders

We provided transport for 13 children and two adults from Hertingfordbury Cowper Primary School to attend an event at Mayfair Lodge Care home in Potters Bar to support their work as Young Leaders in Hertfordshire.

Aims

The partnership with Hertingfordbury Cowper has been in place for a number of years as one of our local state schools we have worked in collaboration to provide experiences for children from both schools.

We have provided transport and offered our school premises for academic and outdoor education opportunities.

The children from both schools have benefitted from working together and undertaking sporting and academic opportunities otherwise unavailable without transport support from SJITP.

Background

The Partnership has been in place for 10+ years. We discuss with the administration team from Hertingfordbury Cowper how we may support them and also they contact us to see if we can offer support where needed.

One school minibus was used along with one drive (non teaching and teaching staff were used for this event). This event took 2 hours of time approximately driving from school to the Mayflower Lodge and the reverse journey. There was non financial contribution asked for .

Impact

The staff and children spoke of their enjoyment at being with the residents of the care home and the staff also said without our support regarding transport the children would have been unable to take part in the visit to Mayfair Lodge.

Pupil Involvement

13 Year 6 mixed gender children.

Frequency
