Structural Engineering Partnership Day

The year 6 in The Maynard hosted students from two local schools for a hugely educational and inspirational day. Led by Senior Structural Engineers and supported by seven female University Students studying Structural Engineering. The students were tasked with designing and building a model of a new music venue that had to be strong enough to support heavy equipment and large enough for someone to sit in. They were built using just lightweight paper tubes and bolts. Their final structures and presentations absolutely bowled over the judges, showing brilliant initiative.

Aims

To inspire an interest in Structural Engineering in girls.
