STEMFest
In June, RHS triumphantly hosted STEMFEST! The event, now in its fourth year, was sponsored by Mindsets UK and welcomed a diverse group of children from 10 schools across Essex and Suffolk. The gathering was a resounding success, captivating pupils from Year 4 to Year 9, with over 130 eager young minds actively participating in a wide array of hands-on activities.
STEMFEST activities ignited pupils' curiosity; participants delved into the world of robotics, with the Crumble workshops provided by Mindsets and VEX Robotics. Hands-on learning experiences were abundant, with Sphero sessions, Snap Electronics, and Pneumatic workshops led by the RAF STEM Team. The event also included Forensics and Kitchen Chemistry workshops provided by Kinetic Science a ‘Gums to Bums’ session conducted by Mr Raybould. Additional workshops included Maths Magic from our Maths department and innovative plastic recycling by the sustainable team in the Design department. Moreover, attendees gained fascinating insights into the local Peregrine Falcons from a regional expert.
The event made a profound impact on pupils of all ages, fostering a deep-seated passion for STEM that extended well beyond the classroom walls. The interactive and immersive activities acted as a springboard, igniting aspirations and dreams of pursuing STEM careers.
Ultimately, STEMFEST was more than just an event; it was a celebration of the essence of STEM, generating a wave of excitement and potential that resonated with everyone involved, both within RHS and the broader community.
