The English-Speaking Union Primary Schools’ Public Speaking Workshop and Competition

Howell’s partners with The English-Speaking Union (South Wales Branch) for an annual English Speaking Workshop and Public Speaking Competition for local primary school children. During the workshop, the children enjoy a variety of activities including tongue twisters and learning about the importance of speaking clearly. On hand to give advice are members of the local ESU.

After learning the procedures to compete in an ESU competition, each school selects three children to take the roles of speaker, chairman and questioner in the Junior Schools’ Public Speaking Competition, which is held in Howell’s at a later date in March. The competition is judged by key members of the ESU. The winners receive plaques and a trophy for their school. With medals for those placed second and third, it is an exciting occasion!
