"Girls Only" Football Festival

Howell’s School partners with Cardiff City Ladies’ Football Club to host its “Girls’ Only” Football Festival. Girls from local junior schools take part in an action packed friendly football tournament where they are coached by premier division players from Cardiff City Ladies Football Team. During the morning the children take part in a variety of different football skill workshops.

Aims

The aim of the Girls Only Football Festival is to engage primary school girls in football.

• 2 members of Howell’s staff
• Venue - Howell’s playing fields/netball courts/sports hall

Impact

The festival will enable girls to develop physical skills and address the requirements of physical literacy in junior schools. The heads of the local schools were delighted for their girls to take part in what has traditionally been regarded as a boy dominated sport. It helps to improve skills such as team work.
