Steinway Piano Competition

As part of Ashford Arts Festival (est. 2023) and in association with Steinway, Ashford School ran a piano competition for pupils between Year 3-13. 

Aims

Promote talented pianists and provide them with both a competitive opportunity as well as a platform to perform in front of their peers. 

Background

As an All Steinway partner school Ashford School was able to utilise this partnership to headline a major event of it's inaugural Arts Festival, which took place in the summer term of 2023.

Resources

Ashford School hosted the event in it's performance space, 'Brake Hall' where the Grand Steinway piano was used for the performances. 

A small entry fee was charged to all competitors which funded the masterclass and judging from a guest artist. 

Pupil Involvement

Over 30 initial entries which resulted in a final of twelve performers across four categories. 

Frequency

This event began in the summer of 2023 and a second competition is planned for 2024.
