Senior School Musical
Senior School musical is an opportunity for years 9-13 to take part in the yearly production. They meet every Monday and Friday evening where they explore acting, singing and dancing. Students included will:
Learn to read and bring to life a script.
Take part in a range of dances from our resident choreographer.
Have help from our specialist Speech and Drama teacher.
Learn to sing solo as well as a chorus.
Become a part of a growing ensemble with clear explorative outlets.
Learn about the Theatre including the stage management, costume, lighting, sound and set designer.
Perform in front of a live audience on sell out evenings.
Young actors locally who show exceptional talent will be invited to join the musical to gain practical expertise and support with applying for Drama schools and conservatoires.
Aims
To provide increasing opportunities for pupils to participate in a large scale and fantastically resourced drama production.
Background
Whilst the annual school musical is a long established showcase event on the performing arts calendar at Ashford School, performance opportunities within the local community are few and far between.
Resources
The cost of the set, props, costume, marketing and technical elements are all met by Ashford School. Some of this expense is recouped through ticket sales for the 3 evening performances.
Pupil Involvement
Following an inclusive audition process, a large cast is selected from pupils in years 9-13.
Frequency
This happens yearly.
