Local ISA Hockey Festival

Rebecca Fuller to organise and run an ISA Hockey tournament for other local schools.

Aims

Aim to give students in Year 3 & 4 the opportunity to play in a mini tournament. Schools involved include; The Hampshire School, Clares Court, Cranford House, Sherfield School, Parkhill School and Ballards School.

Background

Hockey is a key part of Holme Grange Sport for girls. Some students already play outside of school in local clubs.

Ellie Rayer, Olympic Hockey player came to meet and greet students and parents.

Aim to inspire students from a young age to get involved in Hockey out of school.

Give students (especially in Year 3) one of their first opportunities to play against other schools.

Other schools who do not play a huge amount of hockey were also invited.

Impact

Students were able to play against other schools which gave them a confidence boost for their future fixtures. They were inspired by the Ellie Rayer who was able to talk about her Olympic experience. A number of students have since joined weekend Hockey clubs at Maidenhead and South Berkshire. Other schools, such as Park Hill who do not do a huge amount of Hockey were able to experience a friendly tournament.
