Helping to improve swimming in the community

Our swimming pool is offered to the community to help and improve the swimming ability for a range of swimmers.

Aims

Leader with 2nd Bracknell Girls’ Brigade spokesperson...

'We have been very grateful for the opportunity to use the open-air swimming pool at Holme Grange School.

Our first visit was in June 2018 when we took 24 girls to swim in the pool for an hour. It was such a successful evening that this year (July 2019) we hired the pool for two hours and took our 12 younger girls (5-7 year olds) for the first hour and then our 24 older girls (8 -16 year olds) for the second hour.'

Impact

A leader with 2nd Bracknell Girls’ Brigade said:

"All the girls had a wonderful evening and it was heartening to see the unconfident swimmers respond to the opportunity to become less anxious in the water and to begin to experiment with swimming.

The competent swimmers were able to race each other and invent all sorts of games in the deep end whilst the leaders encouraged the nervous swimmers and non-swimmers in the shallow end. The impact of being able to hold these swimming sessions at the school has been an increase in confidence in the water for some of the girls and a great deal of enjoyment for all of them."
