Aims
Aims

To gain links with local clubs in order for them to increase their junior numbers
To give local clubs the opportunity to play their Junior teams against Holme Grange students
To give students the opportunity to play in a tournament at the start of the season
Background
Hockey is a key part of Holme Grange Sport for girls. Some students already play outside of school in local clubs.
Holme Grange hosts a local tournament for children in the community who attend Maidenhead and South Berkshire Hockey clubs.
We invite students in school in Year 6 - 8 to play in these tournaments as a team, hoping to inspire them to join the local clubs.
Students given the opportunity to umpire (those that are experienced and qualified).
All students, juniors and both clubs thoroughly enjoyed the day. Medals were given out for the winning teams and players of matches passed on.
Resources

Impact
Students were able to play against other club players, which has inspired a number of them to join Maidenhead and South Berkshire Hockey clubs. This has increased the junior numbers in each of these clubs which is increasing the amount of Hockey players in the local community.
Pupil Involvement
Year 6 - 8 girls participating
Year 9 - 11 umpiring
Frequency
Annual event at the start of the school hockey season. Held on Holme Grange Open Morning.
