Futures Convention
The Futures Convention at RBCS welcomed 25 UK universities, as well as a number of local companies offering apprenticeships. The Army and Thames Valley Police were also there to highlight their work opportunities for school leavers beyond the more traditional routes. Students also had the chance to explore study options in Australia and New Zealand.
Aims
The aim of the project was to provide an opportunity for Year 11 and Year 12 students to consider their post-18 choices. The immediate beneficiaries are the students (in excess of 500) who attended the convention.
Background
This event was organised by Dr Ramsay as part of the Futures Programme at RBCS.
Resources
The event was organised to take place in the sports hall on the school site on 1st May 2025. No financial contribution was requested from partner schools.
Impact
The anticipated outcomes are a greater awareness of university courses, apprenticeships and careers available after A level study.
Pupil Involvement
Pupils in Year 11 and Year 12 took part in the Futures Convention.
Frequency
This event happens every year and we are planning to extend the number of partner schools in the future.
