Collaborative Local History Project
A half-term collaborative project for local Year 12s, exploring the fascinating history of the Brixton area.
Aims
Many of our students live in the Brixton area, with students from two other local schools being neighbours. It struck us that a project looking into the history of their shared local area would be a tremendous way of bring students from different schools together, working together considering their own experiences of a shared area of the city.
A project that will teach all our Year 12 students from the three schools the skills of referencing historical documents to learn from the past
Background
Our school archivist proposed the project making a six-week programme that involves a visit to Lambeth Archives, reviewing historical maps and 'walking the streets' to see how the area has changed
Resources
Two staff from Alleyn's for 2 hours a week
A staff member from each of our partner schools
