STEM Day with 50 Local Schools
Around 50 primary schools, each with a team of four children, came in to do a variety of STEM activities. The day had a space theme to celebrate the anniversary of the launch of Sputnik into space.
Aims
The aim of the day was to provide STEM learning opportunities for Year 6 children in a secondary school environment.
Background
This was the first time we have had this event and came about after the success of Maths and Science days which had been very popular. We therefore used a bigger venue and got 50 schools!
Resources
All resources were provided by Bolton School.
Impact
We carried out a survey after the event and got some really positive feedback along with some ideas on how to improve things next time round.
Pupil Involvement
There were around 200 Year 6 pupils from 50 different state primary schools.
Frequency
This was the first time we have held this event but we will repeat it given its success.
