Modern Foreign Languages

As part of the College CCA - Service provision, native French, Spanish, German and Italian Sixth Form students can volunteer to teach their languages to the young learners - Year 3-6 – at the Wyche CE Primary School in West Malvern. The Head of French, in consultation with the Headmaster of the Wyche School, agrees on a Scheme of Learning. Students are responsible for the preparation and delivery of the lessons.

Aims

The aim is to provide foreign language provision to primary school pupils. Malvern College Students deliver lessons on a carousel, where Y3 pupils take French, Y4 pupils take Spanish and Y5 and 6 pupils do 2 years of either Italian or German depending on the year they start.

Impact

This scheme allows the Wyche School to fulfil their statutory language provision benefitting from the knowledge and expertise of native speakers, whilst also allowing Malvern College to fulfil the IB Service requirements for their students.
