Mencap Day
Over 800 people with a learning disability, their families and friends were invited to Millfield to enjoy the school’s sports and creative facilities.
Mencap Day, now in its 30th year, offers people with a learning disability an opportunity to try out things such as badminton, barn dancing, cookery, golf putting and a water pistol shooting gallery, activities they may never have had a chance to do previously. Attendees also enjoyed face and nail painting, a magician, a drum workshop and a very thrilling tug of war.
Sixth Form pupils helped organise the day, which invites local Mencap groups from across Somerset to attend. The whole school was involved in the preparation, with pupils acting as guides on the day.
