Holiday swimming for local primary school children

In conjunction with Eastleigh and Winchester Primary School Games, we hold swimming events during the holidays for local primary school pupils. These sessions are made particularly accessible to those pupils who receive pupil premium and are provided free of charge.

Aims

To provide competitive swimming opportunities for local primary school children.

An affordable (FOC) facility is required to achieve this.

 

Background

Response to a request from W&EGO, and as part of an ongoing partnership to share facilities with the local community.

Resources

Availability of St Swithun's swimming pool and lifeguards

Impact

These courses boost the swimming ability of those children who attend, typically helping them towards their 25m acheivement.They also promote the benefits of physical activity, in addition to providing free child-care for local families.

Pupil Involvement

100 children aged 8-11.

Frequency

We run 2/3 sessions each year.
