Careers and Higher Education Fair
Bolton School hosts a Careers and Higher Education Fair every other year, which is open to all students from the local area in Year 9 and above, up to undergraduate level. The event is held in the two Great Halls and covers a broad range of Career areas, modern apprenticeships and the opportunity to chat with representatives from universities and colleges across the UK.
Aims
The event aims to provice information, advice and guidance to young people about their education and career options.
As well as market stalls across the 2 Great Halls with representatives from universities, apprenticeship providers and careers, a variety of seminars are also held during the evening, covering topics such as: Student Finance, Apprenticeships, Routes into Law, Applying to Medicine and Dentistry and Study Abroad opportunities in Higher Education.
Resources
The School's Great Halls are both used to host the event. It is arranged by the Bolton School Careers Department staff, who require time to invite and organise the attendees in advance of the event and also attend on the night.
Sixth Form students help with stewarding on the evening of the event.
Pupil Involvement
Students in Year 9 and above, up to undergraduate level, find the event most useful. Many GCSE and A Level students attend on the night with their parents.
