Tudor Hall Summer Camp Free Places

Tudor Hall School runs an annual summer camp. This summer camp is based at Tudor Hall and runs for 5 weeks during the summer holidays. A variety of children attend from local schools.

Tudor Hall School offered 20 free places to children at William Morris School who had 100% attendance awarded to them over the course of the school year. This initiative was to try and improve attendance at William Morris and to also give young people the opportunity to take part in a wealth of activities throughout the school summer holidays.

Aims

William Morris struggles with attendance rates from some of its school community with some families finding it challenging to get their children to school regularly for a variety of reasons.

It was clear that many families were trying really hard to ensure their children were at school every day and Tudor Hall wanted to recognised this commitment to education by offering free places at Summer Camp. Many of the families who won free places would not be able to afford to go on holiday and many would be working all holiday so this was an excellent way to make the summer holiday more manageable for parents and their children.

Resources

The summer camp is run by Tudor Hall School staff on the school site and uses the schools facilities and resources.

Impact

This enabled the families of these children to continue working through the holidays and it also gave the children the opportunity to take part in activities that they would never have been able to had they not been awarded the free place.

Pupil Involvement

Pupils ranged in age from 5-11 year olds.

Frequency

This initiative first took place in July and continues on an annual basis.
