Live activities
Lockdown life was incredibly challenging for children and their parents, particularly around home schooling. To give hardworking parents a much-needed break, we hosted a series of virtual workshops covering Science and the Arts. Saturday sessions were delivered on Zoom in Street Dance, Kitchen Chemistry, Biology Bingo, and a Book Club, all hosted by our very own teachers.
Tudor Hall hosted a pop-up series of interactive Zoom lessons for Year 5 pupils from primary schools in the local area. Topics covered in the sessions were: Move it Monday - Sport and Fitness; Restless Earth - Geography and Classics; Imaginarium - Drama and Language Lab - Languages.
During School closure Tudor Hall was approached by a member of staff from Dashwood Primary School in Banbury. This is a school with a high number of pupil premium and SEN children. The year's 1 and 6 were returning to school on 8th June and staff had worked on a programme to enable the SEN pupils to work on basic skills on computers at a social distance. However, they needed headphones. Tudor Hall MFL department were able to provide a box of headphones for Dashwood to borrow for the duration of the summer term.
Aims
The aim of the project was to offer pupils an exciting and educational practical virtual workshop that also introduced them to the teaching staff at Tudor Hall. Initially set up as a response to children needing extra-curricular activities during lockdown, the events will now be a permanent fixture on the school calendar. Critical factors for success were to get at least ten pupils to attend.
Background
The project was initially branded as Five Live but evolved into Saturday Live. Marketing proposed that we continue to offer them each year as a feeder project for potential applications and as an 'Outreach' initiative.
Resources
