Shoebox Appeal for Samaritan’s Purse
Members of the Ursuline Preparatory School community took part in a Shoebox Appeal in support of Samaritan’s Purse. Pupils filled shoeboxes with gifts and essential items including stationery, toiletries, toys, gloves and other practical items for children in disadvantaged communities overseas.
The initiative helped pupils understand the importance of generosity and global citizenship, particularly during the Christmas season. The completed shoeboxes will be distributed through local churches and charitable networks to children in communities across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Pupils were encouraged to think carefully about the needs of others and to appreciate the positive impact that even small gifts can have on children experiencing hardship.
Background
Charitable outreach is central to the school’s Catholic ethos and pupils regularly support local, national and international charitable organisations through fundraising and donation drives.
