Partnership with St Margaret's at Troy Town School
HANDS is the King's School Rochester community service initiative which was started in the 1980s.
Currently, our lower sixth pupils volunteer to provide two hours a week every Friday afternoon at St Margaret's at Troy Town School.
They read with the pupils, or for the younger Pre-Prep years they spend time helping with the early years education.
Aims
To enable children outside of the School to build their basic educational skills
Impact
The reading event was well received and children enjoyed the workshop. It was run similarly to other author workshops we have attended.
We benefit from your students hearing readers on a Friday, using your swimming pool weekly and we had one of your wonderful students support our Remembrance Service by playing for us. We have also enjoyed attending performances you have put on previously.
Further opportunities I'd be interesting in exploring would be around enrichment opportunities so looking at ways to support art, languages, sports, drama etc...
Kind regards,
