King's Rochester and Medway Council Sports Centre Partnership for school and community use

The King's Rochester Sports Centre offers a wide range of other facilities for school and community use.

Outdoor facilities include netball courts, a seven a side football pitch and seven  high-quality, all-weather, floodlit, LTA-approved, tennis courts which have also served to address the LTA’s concern that Medway was an area particularly lacking in tennis facilities.

The Centre also offers a wide range of other facilities for school and community use. These include a large, indoor, multi-purpose Sports Hall and a fully-equipped gym as well as a new bar and dining area and a Conference/Function - room with catering facilities much-used by local businesses and Council departments.

Continuing its work with the Lawn Tennis Association, the Centre now offers a full range of coaching programmes, many with the Centre’s Level 4 LTA Coach. Additionally, the Centre also offers a wide programme of activities including affordable gym usage for local parents after dropping off their children at school, exercise and aerobic classes, soft play sessions and trampolining for toddlers, lunchtime and evening football or badminton sessions and other clubs for older children and general day usage by local schools with no sporting facilities.5 - a- side football teams use the sports hall and bar in the evening. Local businesses benefit from corporate membership.

The centre also runs a full programme of weekend and holiday clubs, tennis and football camps in every school holiday including half-terms and at Christmas as well as Easter and in the summer break.

Aims

The aim of the project was to provide major new sporting facilities for King’s pupils of all ages and give the local community access to some of the best, most competitively-priced, sporting facilities in the South East.
