Partnership with Howard School
King's School Rochester partners with Howard School by donating their pool and theory room for three days over consecutive years, to enable the Swim England NCTP programme to go ahead, without the Howard School needing to find an additional budget.
The completion of this training allowed the Howard to train and qualify 11 more primary teaching staff to teach swimming back at their primary school facilities.
The King's School help and support was welcomed and Howard School and plans to run this course again are under discussion.
Our King's Swimming Coach was personally thanked for her professionalism, support and help in setting this course, with visiting pupils for the delegates to practice their swim teaching skills in the pool, at various time slots. Also her help with the tutor when the pool was out of action on the Wednesday, to ensure they continued to give the delegates plenty of pool practice time on the Friday was valuable.
This initiative in conjunction with the Howard School continues. It is planned that 12 Teachers/Teaching assistants will be attending the next session at King's.
Impact
This activity resulted in 11 primary school teachers being able to upscale and have in their curriculum a Swimming Teacher qualification on completion of this course.
Frequency
This course will happen again next February as it is organised through the Howard school sports trust.
