Community work with local groups

King’s continued to be involved with the local community and participated in various events with age groups across Medway, including those not associated with education.

Background

King's Drama Department has partnered with the homelessness charity Porchlight and the Media Department at the University of Kent (Medway Campus) to create a theatre-in-education performance project on the theme of homelessness. This was filmed to be used by Porchlight as part of their future fundraising and marketing in order to raise awareness of homelessness.

The pre-preparatory school took also part in a community art project run by Rivermead Inclusive Trust. The Trust are looking to create a 15000 piece puzzle with each piece decorated in a unique way by members of the Medway community. Each pupil has been busy decorating a puzzle piece in a way that is reflective of their personality. The finished pieces will be displayed in Halpern Gallery at Nucleus Arts from 18 April to 24 April. When hung in the gallery, the puzzle will have no edges in order that it can continue to grow, like the community.
