Partnership with Community Rugby Club
With a long-standing rugby tradition in Bath King Edward’s School has partnered with Bath RFC Juniors (boys and girls) to support the game within the local Bath community and to enhance opportunities for young players.
Aims
The aim of the partnership with Bath RFC Juniors is to support the game within the local Bath community and to enhance opportunities for young players. Through the partnership we hope to support the Club's growth and the provision of rugby to young players in the area, be they experienced players or those taking their first steps in developing rugby skills and enjoying the game.
Background
The partnership was established in September 2021 after the Chairman of Bath RFC Juniors approached the school to seek support. There are a number of pupils from KES who play for Bath RFC, and given then school's rugby heritage and experience, the partnership was a natural coming together of two organisations.
Resources
Both parties are committed to growing the partnership to benefit young players and jointly hosted an RFU Pitch Up and Play event at the Club's grounds at the beginning of September to formally launch the partnership.
The school has additionally provided funding to support the purchase of new season shirts for club matches.
Pupil Involvement
The partnership activity embraces boys and girls aged 13-16yrs. Club players are drawn from State and Independent Schools from across the city and surrounding villages.
Frequency
The partnership is ongoing during the rugby season (September to April).
