Mini Tennis Festival at Queenswood

Ponsbourne is among a number of local state primary schools that are invited annually to Queenswood's Mini-Tennis Festival in the summer term.

Aims

To promote participation in the sport of tennis; to contribute to children's love of sport and physical activity; to promote health and exercise.

Background

The Mini-Tennis Festival was inaugurated in 2008 by the then Director of Tennis to enable children from different backgrounds to experience the sport and to make us of Queenswood's facilities.

Resources

Queenswood's extensive outdoor tennis courts and pavilion are used for the event. Queenswood tennis coaches, Director of Tennis, PE staff, tennis scholars and girls from Year 10 are all involved, as well as catering.

Impact

Increased enjoyment of and participation in tennis among young people.

Pupil Involvement

Queenswood - tennis scholars from Year 7 to Upper Sixth.

Other schools - Year 4, 5 and 6. Both genders.
