Iris Long Lecture Programme

Dean Close organises and funds an annual lecture to be hosted by Winchcombe School for their pupils. This is to encourage aspirations amongst the pupils for life beyond school.

Aims

This lecture programme was originally hosted at Dean Close but it has been moved to Winchcombe to make it more accessible for more pupils there. This is a partnership seeking to increase pupil aspirations.

Background

A generous donor wanted to encourage secondary age pupils to have more ambitious career aspirations and discussion between the two Headteachers of Dean Close and Winchcombe led to the initiative of an annual lecture being hosted at Winchcombe. 

Resources

A donor offered financial resources; Dean Close pupils researched and invited speakers; Winchcombe provided the venue and the audience.

Only one lecture has taken place so far.
